Hi! I'm Karen
You may be wondering....
Why should I partner with you, Karen, as my personal life coach?
Because I believe you need someone in your corner who understands the complexities of life and who can compassionately and supportively challenge you as you experience the personal change that coaching provides. I know that I can help you achieve your goals.
Why do you do what you’re doing?
I learned early in life about some of the most difficult experiences possible. Both of my parents died when I was young. Childhood contained traumatic and shocking experiences with no outlet, very little soothing and nurturing, grief that had no place to go, times of being taken advantage of, lack of safety, variety of losses, shattered trust and betrayal. I became a mental health therapist because there wasn’t anyone helping me as a child to process what I experienced, and I didn’t want others to have to suffer without help as long as I had suffered. Coaching allows me to continue to use my professional and relational skills to help others.
But why did you switch from therapy?
Great question. Therapy involves a lot of intention and attention. I wanted to free up more energy for writing, speaking and for my hobbies, so coaching is a natural fit. Yes, coaching takes energy just like providing therapy does, but the business I’ve created allows me to work with the variety I need in my schedule while still providing the most professional experience for clients.
What’s the difference between therapy and coaching?
Therapy heals and changes the brain at deep levels for improved connection within ourselves and outside ourselves so we can thrive and not get stuck in survival tactics. Coaching is a little different than therapy because it does not work at that deep brain level, but it is very effective for making personal changes in our lives.
What’s your background?
I hold degrees in religion, psychology and social work, which I believe gives me a well-rounded thought process as I interact with others. Following receiving my Master of Social Work degree (MSW) I provided mental health care for 13 years. Prior to my MSW I was a stay-at-home mom, had office jobs, worked in higher education, served on boards and in church program development. I believe my perspective as a former pastor’s wife and holding positions of church leadership and teaching have allowed me to gain thorough experience and understanding about ministry life and church operations.
My Vision
I want to empower women by offering support and resources that cater to their unique needs, enabling them to thrive in various aspects of life. Through my interests, I aim to celebrate the many facets of myself and inspire others to explore their own journeys. I believe in the power of creativity and growth, and I'm dedicated to making a positive impact on those around me.
Want to connect?
I would love to be your Personal Coach. I enjoyed making connections and seeing clients grow while I was a mental health therapist, and I will use those same relational skills when I meet with you as your coach. All sessions will be virtual or on the phone. Send me a message and let's get started!
